James Schaffer

Tech Development, Visual Design, Organizational Management

James bottom-lines the creation and management of our visual and technical resources: infographics, presentations and our Legislative Directory. He also manages much of the organizational backend, including work plans and finances. James facilitates our Legislative Directory trainings and research groups with interactive, popular education presentations—methods learned over years of international youth education work.

James has a strong grounding in social justice and community organizing work. He is a founding member and the financial advisor to Hand in Hand, the domestic employers network, and a core member of the Hummingbird Collective, a funding model supporting the migrant justice movement. James is currently a Grace Paley Organizing Fellow with Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) and a member-leader with the NYC Chapter of Resource Generation.

Prior to coming to the Advocacy Institute, James spent eight years consulting on financial management and strategic planning for small businesses, funders and non-profits. He is a graduate of Harvard College and lives in Brooklyn, NY.
