Member Tools

This is your one-stop shop for all the various tools that Advocacy Institute membership offers. With it, you have access to an online community with its collection of campaign resources: legislative directory, interactive maps, data about state and local officials, tools for campaign tracking and instant support from the Advocacy Institute Team.

Strategic Campaign Support

Dedicated support to assess the status and strategy of campaigns and coaching to develop and reach 3, 6 and 12 month milestones. Team onboarding, and ongoing consulting on shifting strategies round out AI’s role as a trusted collaborator on campaign work for organizations with a range of experience.

Training Sessions

Year-round introductory and follow-up sessions on political developments, campaign strategy and Legislative Directory training. Webinars and in-person trainings, sessions often include great speakers and a space for cross-issue relationship building.

Legislative Consulting Bench

Connection to government insiders and other professionals who might otherwise be inaccessible, difficult to connect with, or not on your organization’s radar. Access to invaluable strategic advice based off consulting bench’s lived experiences working with state and local legislatures and budgets, along with regionally-specific insights.

Membership Criteria

  • Nonprofit orgs (501c3, 501c4, or 501c5 tax status), or part of a larger coalition;
  • Operate and conduct advocacy within New York or want to;
  • Missions aligned with Advocacy Institute’s; and
  • Work to expand or increase access to services or programs, and create spaces that are empowering to historically excluded communities

The Advocacy Institute will prioritize groups:

  • Building power in BIPOC communities & working for systemic change;
  • Budgets less than $2M;
  • Have executive leaders who identify as BIPOC, immigrants, and others from traditionally excluded communities;
  • Outside of New York City; and
  • Serve and work in immigrant communities, low-income communities, and communities of color.

Fees

Membership fees are on a sliding scale determined by an organization’s budget. This keeps membership accessible to those with smaller budgets that are on the front lines of organizing.
