July 22, 2021

This year, New York State will undergo the once-in-a-decade process of redrawing its electoral districts, and public hearings on the process are set to begin in September. In this session, we’ll go over the basics of redistricting, why it matters to historically excluded communities, and how you can get involved in the process this year to protect your community’s interests for the next decade. The Advocacy Institute and experts on redistricting will share how the redistricting process works, how redistricting has impacted electoral politics in New York State, and why it’s so critical for communities of color, immigrants, and others who are historically left out to get involved in the process. We’ll also hear from advocates across the state who are already organizing around redistricting, and how you can join those efforts.
